And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2)

DEVOTIONAL:

Wrong Thinking About Wealth in the Church

Many Christians are deceived by the enemy, and they see wealth in a completely wrong way. They do not understand the why, the what, and the will of God in this area…and so they deliberately think small and greatly limit the scope of what they can accomplish in their own divine assignments.

Here’s a simple but important truth: Everyone comes into the Kingdom with two things: 1) ungodly thought patterns—I call it wrong thinking from the system of the world—and 2) an

assignment for which they were uniquely chosen by God to fulfill in their generation. Religion always tries to persuade people that poverty is noble and prosperity is always associated with greed.

This is why the Church has never seen itself as the answer to the world’s problems or as a community of creators ordained to offer ten-times-better solutions than the world offers. As Paul wrote, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). (As a young man newly born again) I couldn’t prove what God’s perfect will was for my life until I had renewed my mind. Once I did, I gradually was able to “see” (discern) what God had for me to do as my assignment in His Kingdom.

SAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:

Dear God, if I have a wrong perspective on wealth or I am thinking too small about the divine assignments You have for me, I repent, and I ask You to change my mindset to be in line with Your Word and Your will. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
