Your Family of God

SCRIPTURE:

and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24–25)

DEVOTIONAL:

Your Family of God

Today, many believers have given up going to church. They believe they can stay home and watch a few church services or Bible teachers on television and still grow in the Lord. They will say, “Sunday morning, channel 17, is my church.” They are deceived and trying to deceive others because they don’t interact with any of those people on TV.

Your local family of believers is the primary place for you to receive your spiritual education. Just like you learned from your natural parents and brothers and sisters, you get your spiritual education from your spiritual parents and brothers and sisters. You then pass what you learn on to your spiritual sons and daughters.

The local church is where you learn the Word, hear from God, learn how to walk and move in the gifts of the Spirit, begin to realize and walk in your gifts and ministry, and grow up in Christ. You can’t walk in the law of confession successfully without the regular fellowship of other believers and the pastoral care of leaders in your family of God.

If you have a home church, but haven’t been regular in your attendance, get reconnected now. If you don’t know where to go, pray and ask God to show you the place He has ordained for you to be. And, watch God’s blessings show up in your life when you become faithful and fruitful in your local church.

SAY THIS PRAYER WITH ME:

Dear God, I repent for not being faithful in the local church (if this is the case). Please forgive me and help me to get reconnected in the local church, where you have called me to learn and grow, and serve that I might be a blessing to my brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
